STARS AT THE STAR
The Star hosted the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTAs) Awards last week. This meant an intimate luncheon for over 600 Australian film and television production elite, a globally-broadcast theatre style Awards Night for 1500 guests; two distinct after parties and luxury accommodation for A-list guests.
The multipurpose space was initially transformed into the venue to host the ACCTAs Luncheon on Monday 28 January 2013. The Star Event Centre then moved into full gear to create a theatre style event set up on Wednesday 30 January for the AACTA Awards Ceremony. Retractable seating was deployed and draping removed to reveal a larger stage area and seating for 1500 event attendees.
The post-event press conference took place in The Attic – a smaller function space in the Event Centre with 16 hardwired ADSL lines to support the international journalists’ requirements. The entire event was captured flawlessly and broadcast on Network 10.
Renato Rispoli, Awards Event Director, Australian Film Institute (AFI) Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) commented on the flawless production:
“Congratulations to The Star on running a new venue so well and for impressing so many people. While I am rarely daunted, this year I was, and I can sincerely say that we would not have made it without the support, expertise and wise counsel of The Star Sales Team.”
