Docked in Indooroopilly Shopping Centre’s new dining precinct, Nantucket draws inspiration from the iconic wonders of Cape Cod with its white walls, dark hardwood floors and New England interiors.
Offering contemporary American fare in a stylish sanctuary, the eatery is the maiden voyage for TJ and Kim Peabody of Craggy Range Winery fame.
“We’re a Western suburbs family, and to have our first restaurant here is really exciting,” says TJ. “We had a dream and what we’ve ended up with is exactly the vision we’d planned in our minds.
“We not only want to provide people with a great restaurant, but also a comfortable, welcoming space where old friends, new friends, families and colleagues can meet and enjoy our culinary delights in a home away from home.”
The venue features a café-bar, an formal dining space and a private dining area known as The Montauk Room, complete with a modish glassed-in terrace. Guests can enjoy breakfast, brunch, lunch, linner (an ingenious hybrid of both), dinner and evening cocktails seven days a week.
Chris Sell, who previously worked in the kitchen at The Jetty Oxford and Lock’n’Load Bistro, is on board as Nantucket’s executive chef, while former chef and restaurateur Paul McGivern is busy managing the decks.
With a family who has operated many successful venues including the Fountain Room at the Brisbane Cultural Centre and the Terroir Restaurant at the Craggy Range Vineyard, TJ has inherited the Peabody passion for providing high quality food and wine.
Beverages include recipes from around the world such as the Nantucket House Punch with belvedere citrus, mandarin, black tea, citrus gastrique and cape cod syrup, while the Bellini has been heralded their signature cocktail.
The introduction of Nantucket to the new Indooroopilly Shopping Centre is the first stage of a national and international project for TJ Peabody’s family.
“We hope there will be many more to come, not just in Queensland but around the country,” Mr Peabody said.
