JERVOIS SERVES STEAK TO SOFITEL

The Sofitel Queenstown Hotel and Spa has signed up the recently opened Jervois Steak House (JSH) as its official signature restaurant partner. In addition to welcoming external patrons, new steak house (which launched in December last year) will also now service Sofitel’s in-house hotel guests exclusively for dinner.

Operated and owned by Richard Sigley and Chef Simon Gault (of New Zealand Masterchef fame) as part of the Nourish Group of restaurants, JSH is located on Brecon Street, adjacent to the Sofitel.

Sofitel Queenstown Hotel and Spa’s General Manager Vincent Macquet says while the concept of having an external company manage a hotel restaurant is not necessarily new, the collaboration is indeed a unique proposition for the boutique-style Sofitel. “We consider Jervois Steak House an extension of the hotel, and like the Sofitel, it offers a boutique and highly regarded product that is second to none on the South Island,” he says. “We’re truly excited to offer our guests an opportunity to indulge in what is undoubtedly New Zealand’s pre-eminent restaurant showcasing the region’s best beef and lamb, as well as a sample of seafood and popular wine varietals from Central Otago.”

In support of JSH’s appointment as signature restaurant, Sofitel’s European-inspired Left Bank Cafe will cease dinner service to concentrate on offering breakfast and lunch. Jervois Steak House is the newest addition to the Nourish Group of restaurants, portfolio of restaurants, which include the Auckland Jervois Steak House and Shed 5 in Wellington.
