The new Mon Komo hotel, restaurant and apartment complex lies just outside of Brisbane. It’s a combination of textures drawn from the surrounding beachside environment.

Down in the main restaurant, huge rope sculptures line the ceiling and divide the space into its different sections. Satelight was engaged to produce lighting for the convention foyers, which involved creating 3-metre-diameter light fittings. Also incorporated into the nautical theme were Weaver pendant lights suspended above the stairwell, which were customised into the larger size. These fittings are the work of a Macrame artist who uses traditional craft techniques.
