Pyrmont Point Hotel has been a part of the Sydney pub scene since the mid 1800s. You do wonder what the original publican would think about the demands on his pub in 2025. Pub basics haven’t changed much in decades – cold beer, good affordable and approachable food, and a strong community focus – while other aspects might come as a surprise. For example, the importance of functions and events to the pub’s income and, of course, the role of technology in meeting the expectations of a 21st century clientele.

The Pyrmont Point Hotel’s sound system wasn’t ancient but it was well past its best-before date. Nathan David, the owner, was aware that a serious investment in audio was required. Something that could ably cover all spaces of the hotel, with special emphasis on the cocktail lounge and the downstairs bistro, where sound quality could greatly influence the guest experience.

In addressing this challenge, Pyrmont Point Hotel approached Jands, a leading Australian distributor of world-class audio, video, and lighting solutions. Ilias Sintrikos, Business Development Manager – Hospitality at Jands, reflected on the collaboration:
